You will all by now be aware that David and Clive have resigned from the Parish Council after twelve years of unstinting service.

Over that period under David's leadership and ably assisted by Clive, your Council's finances have been transformed to the extent that this year it was able to hold the precept at last years level despite rampant inflation.

Both should rightly be proud of their achievements in not only raising £40,000 over the years they were in office, but in the projects on which the funds were used. These ranged from the total refurbishment of the Village Hall and surrounding area, the installation of the Teenage and Bus Shelters, as well as the play area and speed camera in Stanningfield; and in Bradfield Combust, the Village Sign and War Memorial.

As a result of their efforts, the Council has gained the support of both the Suffolk and Borough Councillors who attend the Council Meetings, and over the years as they have seen how effectively their donations have been used, have given generously from their Community Budgets.

Their departure is a sad loss, and whilst I know they will always make themselves available to advise and if necessary help, they will be a hard act to follow. However, their resignations now means the Council needs at least two new public spirited residents to help build on what the Council has already achieved. To this end, you will shortly receive a flyer asking you to consider becoming a Councillor, and with new and enthusiastic Councillors the Council can continue to build on their legacy.

Tony Langan, Vice Chairman.

Welcome to the Parish of 'Bradfield Combust with Stanningfield'. Comprised of the two villages, both situated in an ideal location to explore the beautiful East Anglian countryside.

The parish is located approximately four miles south of the cathedral town of Bury St. Edmunds, with its Abbey gardens and vibrant mixture of shops and restaurants. The historic old wool towns of Lavenham and Long Melford are just a few miles away, as are the many picturesque villages of this part of Suffolk. We are also close to Sudbury - famous for the artist Thomas Gainsborough. Constable Country and the Suffolk heritage coast are also within easy reach.

Both villages have great pubs - the Red House at Stanningfield (01284 828330) offers a full menu for food and are dog friendly.

The Manger at Bradfield Combust (01284 386516) offers cask ale and a full restaurant menu. Bed & breakfast accommodation is available a short distance away at Church Farm (01284 386333).

A less formal source of information (such as upcoming local events, and immediate neighbourhood watch updates) can be found on the Facebook page for both villages here: Bradfield Combust & Stanningfield Facebook Page
