 Newly painted Bradfield Combust sign

The parish council is pleased to announce that the newly painted Bradfield Combust sign has been  re-installed. The sign, which on one side commemorates Arthur Young, the “father “ of modern British agriculture, who lived in Bradfield Hall, and on other, depicts the 13th century  burning of the Lord of the Manor’s house by disgruntled villagers, in protest at the imposition of a tax on the collection of fire wood.
